Dragons Den winner Drew Cockton found dead aged 36

The Merseyside businessman won funding on the hit BBC business show for his vegan fragrance and candle brand, Owen Drew.

He triumphed on the show after winning a £50,000 investment for his business from Dragon, Touker Suleyman, just last year.

Drew was also a well-known LGBTQ campaigner and just two days ago was seen holding the second North West LEGBTQ+ Business Awards which he founded in Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel.

The sad news was shared by his mother, Kate on Facebook in a post that read: “We are truly, utterly heartbroken to have to tell you that our beloved Drew Peter George Cockton (my gorgeous boy) died peacefully at home yesterday.

“We are devastated beyond belief. Life is never, ever going to be the same again. Rest Peacefully darling boy.”

Whilst Drew’s partner Ryan Gunn posted a picture of the couple on the Facebook page as people shared their sympathy and paid tribute to the late businessman.

Drew grabbed the attention of the Dragons after explaining how he opened a hotel business in Manchester at just 22 after quitting his job in financial services.

He later went on to start his candle business which now has its own firm in Birkenhead and creates natural soy wax candles, soy wax melts and luxurious room mists.

Drew then went on to create the North West LGBTQ+ Business Awards to highlight the contributions made by the LGBTQ+ community in the North West economy.
