Who was Arthur Maggiora?
Arthur Maggiora was born in Sacramento in 1954, Skip attended Modesto Junior College before graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in business marketing. In 1978, he supported himself through college by working at a nearby music store and playing in an original rock band. His band was not only a local favorite but also engaged in Northern California concert production as well. In 1998, he established the Association of Independent Music Merchants, LLC to better assist music makers across the country. He opened his own music store – Skip’s Music – which has grown to become one of the largest independent music retailers on the West Coast. This passion led him to found AIMM – an association for independent music merchants that would help them better compete with larger retail chains.
Throughout his career, Skip was highly respected for his commitment to supporting independent musicians and advocating for their rights within the industry. He also served as a mentor to many young entrepreneurs in and out of the music business. His legacy will live on through all those who have been inspired by his influence over the years.
In addition to his professional accomplishments; Skip was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed running marathons, snowboarding and fishing with friends and family members throughout Northern California.
