King’s Leadership Academy holds steel signing ceremony for new build

Young people put their mark on a new school build as they took part in the traditional steel signing ceremony.

A multi-million pound development to provide pupils of King’s Leadership Academy in Great Lever a modern school is now underway.

The school opened in high quality temporary buildings in 2019, with permission given to add more temporary buildings until the new build is complete next year.

Pupils from the local primary school, Lever Edge Primary Academy and young people from King’s Leadership Academy Bolton, were invited to visit the site and sign their names on the steel frame to mark the progress so far near Freshfield Avenue.

David Crosby, founding principal said: “Staff, students and parents have spent the last three years building a successful culture and we are delighted to develop this further in our new school.

“The building has been designed with some amazing facilities for our students which we welcome all people from across Bolton to enjoy.

They were joined by the Galliford Try construction team and dignitaries from Great Schools Trust and Bolton Council for a site tour and a chance to leave their mark on the new build last Friday (October 14).

The new school is expected to open in September 2023 and will have a range of facilities including full-size football and rugby pitches, a cricket pitch and running track and state-of-the-art classrooms.
