Alaina Chantal Parkhurst, better known as Laney Chantal, was a celebrity makeup artist, mask designer, and former reality tv star.
Laney rose to fame after appearing on SyFy’s reality competition show Face Off in 2013 for its fifth season. She voluntarily withdrew from the show, earning the fifth-place spot.
Afterward, the 33-year-old worked with several big names, including Marilyn Manson and Bella Thorne.
She also created the famous Head FX Makeup for Lil Nas X for his music video Montero (Call Me By Your Name), which won the 2021 MTV VMA for Video of the Year.

Laney Chantal died on October 31, 2022, in Milford, Michigan. Her family confirmed the unfortunate news in a public obituary, sharing that she had “struggled with several mental illnesses throughout her adult life.”
The family did not provide additional details on her demise besides that it was caused by “an accidental drug overdose.”
The Parkhurst family requested donations to a foundation called The Brain & Behavior Research, stating the mental struggles their daughter experienced throughout her life. She had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder (BPD) and addiction.
Six months before her death, Laney had posted a photo of a pink coffin being buried on her Instagram.
Fellow makeup artist Gabriella Accarino paid her tribute and remembered Laney as her “sister and soulmate,” noting her genuineness, talent, and beautiful soul.

Laney Chantal was rumored to be the girlfriend of Violent J. She frequently featured the American rapper-wrestler on her Instagram posts.
However, neither of them ever confirmed if they were dating.
Laney was previously married to Jeordie “Twiggy Ramirez” White of Marilyn Manson. They tied the knot in July 2014 but separated afterward.
Likewise, Violent J, whose real name is Joe Bruce, married Michelle “Sugar Slam” Rapp on June 16, 2013. He had two children with her: Joseph “JJ” Bruce II, born in 2005, and Ruby Bruce, born in 2006.

Laney developed an interest in music, skateboarding, soccer, and basketball as a kid. After enrolling in the Cinema Make-Up School, she graduated in prosthetic makeup, fabrication, and sculpting in 2010.
Then, Laney started to create makeup looks, special effects, and creatures for films and music videos. She made horror masks for different metal acts and makeup for Shia LaBeouf, Lil Nas X, Evan Rachael Wood, and Marilyn Manson.
The 33-year-old also appeared in the fifth season of the makeup competition Face Off. Although Laney managed to reach the final, she left as she was no longer having fun.
“Alaina put her whole self, body, mind, and soul into her jobs, no matter the size,” her obituary said. It mentioned her artistic ability and visions that quickly set her apart from other artists in her field.
