According to Variety, Edwin McPherson, the guitarist’s attorney, filed the complaint on Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of Mars.
The complaint asserts that Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Vince Neil, the other band members, hid crucial information about the band’s other businesses and Mars’ 25% ownership interest.
According to the lawsuit, the other band members called a special meeting “to remove Mars from the band, to remove him as a director of the corporation, to remove him as an officer of the corporation, and to remove his shares of the corporation.”

In a statement provided to CNN, Frid referred to a 2008 agreement signed by the members that stated “any resigning shareholder be entitled to receive any monies attributable to live performances” and termed Mars’ lawsuit “unfortunate and completely off-base.”
The lawsuit also claims that several live songs contained pre-recorded music and that bassist Nikki Sixx “gaslighted” guitarist Jason Mars into thinking his performance was poor due to cognitive deterioration.
The complaint refutes those assertions by stating that Mars’ mistakes were caused by his in-ear monitors, which “constantly malfunctioned, preventing him from hearing his instrument.”
