A Zambian student named Rebecca Ziba made headlines, recently in April 2022. The Zambian Student Arrested news spread like wildfire across Europe.

Zambian Student Arrested In Russia
Zambian Student, Rebecca Ziba, was arrested in Russia for allegedly rehabilitating Naziasm. She was arrested on Nazism charges for twerking at the war memorial.
The Zambian female student is 21 years old as of this writing. The local media identified her as Zambian national Tionge (Rebecca) Ziba.
She posted a video of her twerking in front of the memorial on Instagram. Hence, the female student was detained for posting the video.
As seen in the video footage, Ziba can be seen twerking next to a Memorial Glory in Khanty-Mansiysk.
The Russian authorities soon took out the video as her act was considered shameful and insulting. Also, the Zambian student was charged under the Criminal Code Part 4 of Art 354.1. The charge indicates rehabilitating nazism.
If found guilty, she might face at least three years in prison and a fine of $35 thousand (3 million roubles). According to the concerned Russian authorities, her action desecrated a symbol of Russian military glory.

What Did Rebecca Ziba Do?
Zambian student Ziba was detained for dancing (twerking) at the war memorial. The Russian authorities took action when she posted her dancing clip in Khanty-Mansiysk with insulting captions on Instagram.
Her original caption read, “Shaking b**ty for the dead, sure they (referring to soldiers) are sleeping good tonight.”
Moreover, her post on Instagram has been taken down by the authorities.
Khanty-Mansiysk’s Memorial of Glory symbolizes the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War II against Nazi Germany.
Likewise, she remained under investigation, and the officials shared her apology video.
Is She Freed Now?
According to Zambia’s foreign ministry, their student Rebecca Ziba has been released on bail by the Russian authorities.
Moreover, the Russian investigators released a video of the Zambian Student, where she is kept in what appears to be an interrogation room. Also, she apologized for her actions in English, saying:
I never knew what the memorial sign signifies. I didn’t want my clip to be insulting to the dead. I deeply apolosise for my offensive action.
But Ziba’s case has been transferred to prosecutors in Khanty-Mansiysk. Also, there is confusion about whether she could access any legal help from her side.
