Who Were Rick Ennis Parents Eddie And Dolly?
While Linda Dolly Flowers was Rick Ennis’ mother, Eddie Joe Flowers was his stepfather.
The Flowers couple were brutally murdered in their home in Alabama in March 1993. At the time of the shocking incident, the pair had been married for less than a year.
Eddie Joe Flowers was born in December 1952 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Eddie was described as a doting dad to his children. As per the reports, the smile on his face never faded despite hardship, and he did his best for his family.
Donna Furr, Angela Flowers, and Tina Sexton are Eddie Joe Flowers’ children.
On the other hand, Rick’s mother, Dolly, was born in March 1951. She married Rick Ennis’ biological father in 1980. But the former couple’s marriage could not last more than eight months.
Ennis was only seven months old at the time of his parents’ divorce.
Afterward, Dolly met Eddie and tied the knot. The couple lived in Brantley, Alabama, with Rick Ennis. The family had relocated to a mobile trailer park house in Montgomery weeks before the incident.
How Did Rick Ennis Kill His Parents?
On 5 March 1993, 12-year-old Rick Ennis was walking at night along a dark Alabama highway after crashing his family’s car on the side of the road against a fence.
A states trooper, John Clark, came across Ennis. Rick was carrying a .38-caliber handgun. The authorities visited the young boy’s home and encountered the horrible scene.
40-year-old Dolly and 39-year-old Eddie were brutally killed. The authorities believed they were murdered about 30 hours before they were discovered.
Dolly had been beaten with a baseball bat in addition to being shot with a.22-caliber rifle, and Eddie had been blasted to death with a 16-gauge shotgun.
The police saw Dolly had a rose on her chest. Rick soon confessed to killing his parents and gave the detectives a thorough account of what happened.
The police interviewed friends and relatives as part of their investigation to figure out what caused the tragedy. Rick had issues at home even though he did well in school.
Angela, Eddie’s daughter, claimed that Rick would push Eddie away whenever he attempted to approach the 12-year-old.
She added Rick had previously threatened people and stolen guns, but no one had ever taken him seriously.
Where Is Rick Ennis Now? Was He Arrested?
Rick Ennis confessed to his crime in court. However, he was under 14 years old. As per Alabama law, he couldn’t have been tried as an adult.
Instead, the juvenile system processed the case, and Ennis was released when he was 21.
Eddie’s daughter revealed that Ennis escaped jail two times before his release. Rick’s lawyer stated he had a history of emotional and physical abuse.
Nearly three decades after killing his parents, he was sent to jail for abusing and killing Lori Slesinski in 2006. While expressing relief, Eddie’s daughter said she felt justice had finally been served.
