On Saturday afternoon, a vicious attack at the Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas, left eight people dead and seven injured.

The officer reported two minutes later that he had taken the suspect down. Hundreds of mall-goers were seen trying to flee the scene as the gunman opened fire using an AR-15-style gun.

The local news stations’ aerial footage depicted a devastating scene in the mall parking lot with bodies, including children, covered with sheets. 

Three of the victims were in critical condition, while four others were reported to be stable.

Mauricio Garcia Death And Obituary

On May 8, 2023, a gunman identified as Mauricio Garcia opened fire at the Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas, killing eight people and injuring seven others. Armed with an AR-15-style rifle, Garcia wore combat gear and a handgun.

He was later shot dead by a police officer responding to a different call in the area. The incident left the community and families of the victims in shock and mourning.

Law enforcement officials later searched a nearby hotel where Garcia was staying and a home in the city, where they found more weapons and ammunition in his car.

Video footage captured when the gunman exited his car in the mall car park and started shooting at people nearby. Witnesses described hearing multiple gunshots and seeing bodies covered in sheets.

One witness said a customer warned them to close the doors, and they soon heard the gunshots. They tried to keep customers calm and hid behind the store.

The police officers who responded to the scene confronted Garcia, who reportedly fired many shots in the mall. The officers returned fire, fatally shooting Garcia.

Garcia was a former student at Allen High School with a criminal record, but the details of his criminal history were not specified.

A neighbor of the suspect, who only identified herself as Julie, said that she used to see Garcia going to and from work every day, but he seemed a little strange, and she couldn’t hold a conversation with him.

She was shocked to learn he was the suspect in the mall shooting. Another neighbor, Gilda Bailey, saw police cars parked outside Garcia’s house, and they would not allow his relatives inside.

Later, she saw the FBI removing items from the house. Bailey said she did not understand what could have triggered him to commit such a crime.

Another neighbor said living so close to someone suspected of committing a mass shooting was frightening. 

The reason why Mauricio Garcia shot innocent people at the mall is still unknown and is being investigated by the police department.
