Meteorologist Michelle Muscatello has decided to depart from her position at 12 News after over 18 years of service.
She made the decision to prioritize spending more time with her family by leaving her current job and starting a new role in the private sector.
In a Facebook post, Muscatello expressed her gratitude for the chance to be a part of people’s daily morning routines and fulfill her childhood aspiration.

Although she enjoyed the excitement of covering weather events, she highlighted that the most rewarding aspect of her job was being able to impact the community.
Michelle also expressed remorse towards Block Island inhabitants for not revealing her pregnant belly during her weather forecasts for several months.
Since joining WPRI in 2004, Muscatello has not only covered news events and worked early mornings but also involved herself in various other activities.
She has delivered speeches in classrooms, served as a mentor to interns, and actively collaborated with several charities, such as Make-A-Wish MA/RI and MADD.
Furthermore, she also worked with Special Olympics, Project Undercover, the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association.
Michelle acknowledged that her children had grown rapidly, with one moving to high school the following year.
Muscatello did not want to miss any more precious moments with her family or feel too exhausted to enjoy their amusing dialogues and other evening activities.

The statement also emphasized the immense value that Muscatello brought to the team and how her absence would be deeply felt.
WPRI General Manager Patrick Wholey mentioned in the press release that they had been anticipating her departure for some time, and they were adequately prepared for the transition.
He added that the station would release more information closer to Muscatello’s departure date, which is set for the late spring.
During her tenure at WPRI, Michelle regularly appeared on two news programs: Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon, which aired weekly.
