According to NPR, Shireen Abu Aklen brother is currently 58 years old. He was born in Jerusalem in 1965.

On the other hand, the journalist was born to her parents on April 3, 1971, in her hometown of East Jerusalem.

After more than 20 years with Al Jazeera, Shireen Abu Akleh, aged 51, was shot and died last Wednesday while documenting a gunfight between Israeli forces and Palestinian assailants in Jenin.

A boulevard in Ramallah has been named after Abu Akleh, and a future media museum that is scheduled to open in 2025 will also bear her name.
